Starting

  1. Open the app and create a case.
  2. Add the paper book and the other documents of the case. You can drag in a whole folder, and its documents arrive in the sidebar.
  3. Open the paper book and choose Pull index. The annexure references in the index become links to their pages. Check the links before relying on them.
  4. Mark the paper book with the pen and the highlighter. Lift a passage onto the workspace, write beside it, and draw a line from the workspace to the page to link the two.

Common questions

Is my work sent to you?
No. Your cases are kept on your devices and in your own iCloud. See the Privacy Policy.
What does a colleague need to work on a case with me?
Paperbook on an iPad or a Mac, signed in to iCloud with their own Apple Account. Once you share a case, its workspaces arrive first, so they can start work while the documents download.
An iPad is running out of space.
Offload the cases you are not using. They stay in your iCloud and come back to the iPad when you open them, with your markings intact.
Where do the bare Acts come from?
From Paperbook’s shared library, downloaded the first time a case needs them, so the first download needs a connection. The texts are for reference: always check the official text before relying on a provision.
How do I use the AI features?
Add an API key from your own AI provider in Settings. Until you do, nothing is sent to any AI provider. When you use a feature, what you submit goes from your device to that provider, under its terms.
Can I get my orders from Cause Diary?
Yes, if you use Cause Diary. Choose Pull orders from Cause Diary in a case, and its latest orders are placed in a folder within the case.
How do I take my work out?
Export any document with your markings or clean, or export them all as separate files.
Does Paperbook run on an iPhone?
No. Paperbook is made for the iPad and the Mac.
